Collecting reasons for property closure through the HSN endpoint
07-Feb-2024
- Start capturing your properties’ reason for closure with the updated HSN endpoint
- Improve property retention and boost your reopening rate by using these insights to take appropriate next steps
- Support temporarily closed properties to reopen at the right time by supplying them with demand data
With the updated HSN endpoint, you can ask your properties what their reasons for closing are. This will help you retain more properties and drive property reopening rates.
Capturing the exact reason for closure
Until now, properties closing on our platform did so either by removing their availability through their rates or inventory, or by requesting that you close them. By not knowing the exact reason, we treated all closures equally instead of focusing on preventing the avoidable ones or reopening the temporarily closed ones.
We recently added a functionality to the extranet that captures the reason a property is closing and we're now bringing the same to connected properties via the updated HSN endpoint. With this update, you’ll now be able to share with your properties a list of predefined reasons from which they can select one reason for closure. To see the list of reasons, you can check the API documentation for this endpoint.
Update benefits
Understanding why your properties want to close has several benefits. It can help you:
- Improve your properties’ experience by gathering their feedback.
- Grow your revenue by improving your property retention.
- Boost your Connectivity Partner Programme performance by increasing your number of open bookable listings.
- Improve the messaging and timing of your efforts to reopen temporarily closed properties
Based on the reason that the property indicated, we’ll categorise them in the right closing status and use this information to reopen relevant properties. If we know that a property is closed seasonally, we’ll make sure they reopen in time to capture demand. If they’re experiencing difficulties with our platform, we’ll try to address their concerns. If they’re closing permanently, we’ll exclude them from our reopening efforts.
Implementing the endpoint
If you’re already using the HSN endpoint and want to start using this new functionality, you’ll need to update it to the latest version. If you aren’t using this endpoint yet, you’ll have to implement it from scratch.
Once you’ve updated or implemented the endpoint, you can inform your properties about the new feature either by calling, emailing or meeting them in person. They’ll be able to select a reason for closure in the dropdown list after indicating they want to close.
Join us in gaining more insights into why properties decide to close by updating or implementing the HSN endpoint. For more information on how to implement the endpoint, check out the API documentation.
