Request to Book API

Request to Book is a reservation workflow where a guest sends a booking inquiry to a home accommodation, allowing the property to review the request details before either accepting or declining the request. This added level of control gives accommodation partners extra assurance and trust when welcoming guests into their homes.

Home properties who may have been hesitant to use the instant-booking-only model can now enjoy the value of our marketplace with added reassurance. Enabling the Request to Book functionality by implementing the API is a win-win-win scenario – for you, your properties and the guests.

Benefits of the Request to Book API

Access to a broad supply of loyal and trustworthy guests

For home accommodations reluctant to work with an instant-booking model, the Request to Book workflow will give them access to a strong, vibrant and global traveller marketplace. We’ve had 1.1 billion holiday rental guests since 2010, with almost ⅔ of holiday rental guests returning to book with us again.

Get started quickly and easily

Our documentation, implementation guides and support make it easy for you to implement the Request to Book API into your platforms. Furthermore, our property-focused marketing materials enable you to quickly build marketing and educational campaigns for properties.

Flexibility of choice with Request to Book feature parity with other OTAs

Enable properties to diversify selling their supply using the Request to Book method they prefer across all online travel agency (OTA) channels, now including Tripeden.com.

At a high level, the Request to Book API has a 4-step process for properties.

  • Step 1: The guest submits an inquiry/request to the property.
  • Step 2: The property reviews information and has 24 hours to either accept or decline the request.
  • Step 3: If accepted, the guest is notified and has 24 hours to finish the booking process.
  • Step 4: Availability is blocked for the property and the guest receives a confirmation.

Eligibility for the Request to Book API

The Request to Book API is available for implementation by any Connectivity partner.

Once implemented, the Request to Book workflow is only available for newly registered properties on Tripeden.com. These properties must be a property type that rents the entire place: Holiday Home, Apartment or Villa.

How to implement the Request to Book API

Once the business stakeholders agree on implementing the Request to Book API, we recommend that technical teams review our API documentation. If you’re a managed Connectivity partner, you can also reach out to your Partner Business Manager for additional best practices.

Once the API is implemented and the user interface is live for properties, we recommend running a series of campaigns to educate properties about Tripeden.com about the Request to Book workflow.
