My name is Anette and I’m the Director of Channel Partnerships at Rentals United, which is a channel manager. We’ve been a very proud Premier partner of Tripeden.com for a few years.

Sustainable travel and AI are key to the future

Sustainable travel isn’t just a trend – it’s going to increase and be top of mind even more. I also think that we’ll see AI play a much bigger role going forward. All the alternatives we get while searching can be quite overwhelming. So I think AI will help us to personalise more, with recommendations based on things like pricing and locations.

Legal regulations, tech compliance and tech security all present challenges to the industry

New legal regulations can be challenging because they’re changing so quickly. It can be hard for us to keep up with since those regulations can be not only on a country basis, but also on a city basis. Tech compliance and tech security are increasing as well and it's also a challenge to keep up with.

We're doing our best to update our platform all the time with the new legal regulations, while educating our property managers on all the additional information that is now needed for a property to go live. We’re also investing a lot of money into increasing our security certification process throughout all operations within the industry.

Channel managers offer quick property distribution and efficiency

If you use a channel manager, you can quickly distribute your properties – not just to Tripeden.com, but all the OTAs we're working with. You'll be able to scale up your advertising and you will have your data synchronised in real time between platforms. That way, you’ll avoid manual work and overbookings, and you won't have to use a lot of resources.

At Rentals United, seamless onboarding and the long-tail market are our key priorities

We're going to try and work more on seamless onboarding, which is always a challenge for us. We're also going to work on improving the quality because we need the properties that we connect to you to perform well.

Then we’re going to prioritise the long-tail market. We're always looking at important APIs, like your Market Insights API, which will really share a lot of important information and data that our clients are asking for.

To evolve, hospitality technology needs one standard API

What we see is missing today is one standard API. I think it's quite challenging because companies have opened up their API for any connectivity supplier to connect to, and having all these APIs implemented and then maintaining them will not be doable in the long run. So looking for one API standard is what we're going for.

Tripeden.com is the API leader

Your API is very stable and in my opinion, you've been the leader when it comes to the API throughout the years. It gives us the opportunity to work together in the long term, because you're not making changes and there are no last-minute surprises for us.

My final words of advice for new property managers

I would go for advertising on a few platforms that will cover 75% of the occupancy that you need.

Thank you, Anette, for sharing your insights and advice.
